Katherine M. Thomas, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences, Purdue University faculty profile CV google scholar Kate joined the clinical psychology graduate faculty at Purdue University in 2015 after completing her clinical internship at the San Francisco VA Health Care System. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Emory University and completed her doctoral training with Chris Hopwood at Michigan State University. In addition to her research interests in how individual differences and interpersonal processes help us understand how people experience, express, and recover from psychological problems, her main interests include spending time with good people, reading, travelling, most sports and outdoor adventures, the arts in general and live shows in particular. |
Graduate Students
Lily Assaad, M.A. Graduate Student in Clinical Psychology, Purdue University Lily is a clinical psychology doctoral student and a Stegman Research Fellow working with Dr. Thomas. She received her undergraduate degrees in business and psychology from Abilene Christian University and earned her master's degree from the University of Maryland in social and organizational psychology. Her interests generally revolve around 1) escalation and de-escalation of interpersonal conflict, 2) the intersection of personality disorders with interpersonal processes, and 3) the creation, reliability-testing, and validation of measurement methods. |
Vera Du, B.S. Graduate Student in Clinical Psychology, Purdue University Vera is a first-year clinical psychology graduate student advised by Dr. Thomas. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University. Her main research interest is to examine the mechanism of interpersonal interactions and how personality and interpersonal behaviors play out in individual's daily experiences, relationships, and psychopathology development. Aside from academics, Vera also enjoys traveling, reading, exploring food, and spending time with loved ones. |
Alison Haney, M.A. Ph.D. Candidate in Clinical Psychology, Purdue University Alison is a Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology at Purdue University. Alison completed her M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Purdue in 2016 working with Dr. David Rollock, and earned her Bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University. Her research examines ways that aspects of identity are related to emotion regulation and coping. Lab Manager
Justine Blanke, B.S. PARP Lab Manager Justine earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Purdue University in May 2017. In her post-baccalaureate years, she is working as the lab manager for the PARP lab as well as a patient care assistant at a local psychiatric hospital. Justine plans to attend graduate school in psychology after further research and clinical experience. Her research interests include romantic relationships, parent-child relationships, and momentary personality processes. She is a coffee fanatic who enjoys painting, crocheting, and reading in her free time. |
Research Assistants
Lauren Hernandez Psychology Lauren is a sophomore majoring in Psychological Sciences, and minoring in Dance and Human Development & Family Studies. She is also a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She is from Dallas, Texas, and her research interests include how drugs and alcohol affect interpersonal relationships and how ostracism affects people in society. Lauren's personal interests include dance, photography, watching reality television, playing video games, and volunteering in the community. |
Danielle Caravella Psychology; Public Health Danielle is originally from Sacramento, CA, but is here at Purdue double majoring in Psychology and Public Health. She is planning on attending graduate school for Public Health with a focus on mental health in communities. Danielle is very interested in learning about how personality develops, as well as researching how different personality traits can play a role in mental health disorders. In her free time she loves spending time with animals, reading, traveling, and participating in events with her sorority Alpha Xi Delta. |
Stephanie Price Psychology Stephanie is a psychology major and is interested in pursuing a career in Psychiatry. She is especially interested in working with children and adolescents. Stephanie is from South Bend, Indiana. She enjoys spending time outside, trying new foods, and spending time with friends. |
William Claus Jr. Psychology William is a senior from Long Island, New York, majoring in Psychological Sciences here at Purdue. He plans to attend graduate school for a clinical psychology track with the goal of becoming a therapist specializing in treating mood and anxiety disorders for adolescents and emerging adults. In his free time he enjoys spending time with friends, watching YouTube videos and attempting to find dogs to pet. |
Natasha Lang Psychology, Spanish Language and Culture Natasha is a junior with a double major in Psychological Sciences and Spanish Language & Culture. She has a passion for learning about mental illnesses and hopes to attend graduate school for clinical psychology. Natasha's personal interests include gymnastics, running, reading, and exploring different genres of music. |
Deemah Alturkait Psychology Deemah is a freshman from Kuwait, majoring in psychological sciences and minoring in human development and family studies. She hopes to pursue clinical child psychology in the future. She is interested in family dynamics and their effects on a developing child’s mental health, with a particular interest in how childhood trauma affects cognitive and physical development. Her personal interests include kickboxing, weightlifting, reading, and spending time by the sea. |
